Princess Charlotte made her Wimbledon debut this past weekend. The petite princess, age 8, made an appearance at Sunday’s men’s final game with her older brother, Prince George, and their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and the photos are too cute.
Her blue dress matched brother George’s blue suit and tie. Prince William also got in on the blue dress code, wearing a navy blue tie.
In addition to the dress, which had a ruched waistband, she wore a pair of very sweet white Mary Jane shoes.
Although sunglasses are typically not a part of royal ensembles, there seems to be an exception for Wimbledon. Kate Middleton also has been known to wear a pair during a match.
Her dress may have been extra special.
Some fans online have speculated there’s a reason that the young princess wore the particular dress she did.
Her dress was designed by a Spanish brand called Friki, and some believe Charlotte wore that dress as a way to show respect to King Felipe of Spain. He was in attendance to support player Carlos Alcaraz.
There is video of King Felipe talking to Princess Charlotte, and it looked like a very sweet and sincere interaction.
Princess Charlotte gave the crowd a taste of her signature personality.
The young royal was clearly having a good time during the match — she was totally engaged.
There were a lot of smiles, but you could see her hiding behind her hands during the particularly tense moments.
Kate has been photographed doing the same thing, which makes it clear where she gets it from.
It seems the Waleses have an unwritten rule about their children attending the tennis match.
Sunday marked Charlotte’s first year at Wimbledon, making it seem like her family is allowing their kids to start joining them at Wimbledon at age 8; last year was George’s first time attending the match when he was the same age.
Prince William made his Wimbledon debut in 1991 alongside his mom, the late Princess Diana.
It was a very special first Wimbledon.
Charlotte also got to meet a sweet Spaniel named Stella, a police dog, before the match.
