Dolly Parton has always been known for her flamboyant style, but in her book Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business, she revealed that she struggled with trying to attain beauty. She said that the quest for beauty had always been a struggle for her and doubted her looks as a child.
Parton even questioned if she was really related to her sisters because they were so beautiful and didn’t have to work as hard as she did to look nice. However, she overcame her insecurity and joked that it’s why professionals who help her look good make so much money.
The 76-year-old revealed to PEOPLE, “I do have some tattoos, that’s true. But they’re tasteful. I’m not a tattoo girl.”
Dolly admitted she’s gotten ink to help cover up her scars from procedures and previous surgeries. As the cover star of W Magazine, the country queen was open about the art she has on her body. “I have a few little tattoos here and there,” she said after revealing that her delicate tattoos consisted of an angel, ribbons, bows, butterflies, and beehives. “I don’t have the real heavy, dark tattoos. Mine are all pastel. And I have more than one!”
Even with meaningful tattoos spread who knows where, the Country Hall of Famer hasn’t made room for a tat dedicated to her husband of 55 years, Carl Dean. It’s okay, though because Dolly sweetly admitted that, “he’s tattooed on [her] heart”. “Who knows, I may get some later. I may just have to get covered with tattoos just so everybody could be right!” she joked.
