Dolly Parton and her Hollywood manager Sandy Gallin were extremely close, but their relationship was never romantic. Parton confirmed in a 1981 interview that they had never slept together, and in her 2020 book she explained that Gallin was gay, which made their friendship easier. They spent a lot of time together and Gallin brought out a mischievous side of Parton’s personality. Parton considered Gallin to be a “God-given” friend and trusted him with secrets she had not shared with anyone else. Gallin passed away in 2017, and Parton reflected on how much she missed him.
